Our group is a non-profit making organisation attached to Hope United Reformed Church. Our leaders and helpers are all volunteers attached to our Church.
Our aims are :-
- To provide children from the community with structured play opportunities
- To provide local families, from all cultural and social backgrounds, with the opportunity to positively engage with each other and promote social cohesion
- To reinforce the importance of play in child development
- To support parents/carers in learning how to interact with their children, encouraging them to engage positively with their children
The health, safety and welfare of all those attending our group is of fundamental importance.
- We provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all those who attend our group.
- We foster a caring environment encouraging co-operation and interaction between staff, parents and children and with the local community.
- The maximum number of children at each session is 35.
- The premises, all equipment and resources are checked on a regular basis.
- Children must be supervised by their parent/carer at all times.
- Parents/carers have sole responsibility for their children.
- Volunteer workers must not assume direct responsibility for the children or remove them from the supervision of their carer.
- Any issues or concerns regarding a child’s, parents or carers behaviour must be reported to one of the group leaders.
- The group leaders are the designated persons for Child Protection and operate in accordance with the United Reformed Church Safeguarding policy.
- Group leaders and all voluntary helpers must undertake a CRB check.
We operate with a maximum of 35 children at each session and as such often have a waiting list. We ask parents/carers to let one of the group leaders know by phone if they are not attending. If a child does not attend for two weeks without the group leader being informed, their place may be given to the next person on the waiting list.
We like to vary our programme rather than stick to a rigid timetable.
Our typical programme will be:
Section 1 - 45 minutes
Quiet toys and activity tables
Snack time - 15 minutes
(A healthy snack for each child and tea/coffee and biscuits for adults)
Section 2 - 50 minutes
Large apparatus, mobile toys etc.
Section 3 - 10 minutes
Sing song
We look forward to welcoming you and promise a friendly welcome at Hope Mums and Tots.
